Gone

This morning I received the sad news that Patrick Scholman was in a motorcycle accident and died, he was 38 years old.

Patrick was a tall Dutchman who loved Jesus, loved his wife Angelina and loved Belgium. I met him years ago and we became good friends. I loved his humble spirit and his willingness to do whatever was needed to be done. He did not ask too many questions, he just got it done.

We spent a lot of time thinking, planning and working hard to share a vision to mobilize the church of Belgium. Patrick had a passion to see Belgium change and he worked hard towards that end.

He and Angelina came and stayed in my home for a few months and during that time we got to know each other in a deep way. They wanted to have kids but they could not get pregnant, eventually after many tears and much prayer, they succeeded and had three lovely children Nathanja, Elian, Mischa.

After moving to the US from England, I lost contact with Patrick. However he kept on working hard to fulfill the vision. Most recently, he was involved in a church for bikers.

At 38, Patrick has left behind a legacy of a good and faithful servant of Christ. He will be missed.
